the managing meltdowns academy
less than 3 hours (& some time & effort) to a more regulated home
“What if we helped our kids learn how to ride the waves of their emotions, to navigate their stormy waters rather than immediately trying to bring them back to shore any time their waters turn rough?” -hayden ahlbrandt
MMA is the course that helps you do just that.
You’ll learn all you need to know to feel empowered in those big moments… To feel more able to support your kid in learning how to navigate their emotions rather than just shutting them down or ignoring them.
You’ll learn actionable strategies to keep yourself more regulated and therefore more intentional in your responses. Strategies that will help to develop your kid’s emotional regulation capabilities; Strategies that will help your kid be more able to actually use the tools at their disposal in those big moments rather than forgetting them the moment the flip switches.
And listen… I’m not here to tell you that this means you’ll never have to deal with a meltdown again. We’re human. We’re all learning and growing and evolving, and we are going to have moments of big, overwhelming emotion in our lives. But imagine being in a space where those big emotions didn’t feel all consuming. A space where you had the capacity and the knowledge to intentionally support your kid in developing their emotional regulation skills.
So I’m here to tell you that a more regulated household, where everyone loses their sh*t just a little bit less, is possible.
Let’s get there together.
I’m not going to tell you you’re never going to lose it… You’re human, and if you’re alive, you’re going to get dysregulated from time to time.
AND
What if it didn’t feel like it was all the time?
What if you weren’t operating from a space where you were ready to blow at any given moment?
A space where your kid wasn’t ready to blow at any given moment?
What would your home life be like if it didn’t feel like everyone was walking on eggshells and even when emotions did get big, everyone could come back quickly, re-regulate, and move on with their day?

Listen… I get it. One of the most frustrating things is feeling like your kid’s behavior makes no sense. And these modules are about making sense of those behaviors through an understanding of what is happening inside their body… both in their brain and the activation of their nervous system. Because with that, when the behaviors suddenly make sense, we can have a bit more compassion and simultaneously know what we can do to support them.
By exploring and understanding what is going on inside your kid’s body in those difficult moments, so that we can begin to understand what we can do to support them.
✳
-
We’ll deep dive into the concept of regulation - both for yourself and your child. By understanding these concepts, we can begin to piece together an intentional response to meltdowns. One in which you are more able to stay regulated, and therefore be intentional about the way you are responding to meltdowns. One in which you have ideas and strategies of what to do in those big, overwhelming moments. One in which you begin to feel empowered to support your kid through their big emotions…so that their emotions don’t have to feel as big.

If you have no idea how to support a meltdown, find yourself repeating generational cycles, or just worry nothing you do is helping, this will be your favorite section yet. This is the section of the academy in which you will learn HOW to respond. Through our work here, you will walk away with a toolbox of strategies, so that you know EXACTLY how to support a meltdown in a way you feel good about, and have ideas and strategies of how to switch things up when you find yourself starting to lose your cool. You will learn the ins and outs of responding to a meltdown in a way that helps to keep you regulated and intentional, so that you can teach your kid how to navigate those rough waters.

Course FAQ
-
While I specialize in working with younger children in my play therapy practice, I’m not working with your child in this course (& I’m not providing therapy)! The information contained in this course is an understanding of the HUMAN brain and nervous system, and as such, can be applied to any age (I mean in a chunk of the course I ask you to apply the info to yourself). While things may look different with different aged kiddos, the information can help inform our responses regardless. Lastly, with the purchase of this course, you receive 2 free months of access to The Village, an online community meant to give you the opportunity to make the information and tools fit for you and your life. So all that to say, this course goes a whole lot deeper than just “do it like exactly as I tell you.”
-
Absolutely! The course is not meant to be shared (& I’d very much appreciate you not doing so), AND when you purchase the course, it is yours to use to support your child or children! That means feel free to have your child’s support team complete the course (parents/caregivers, nanny/babysitter, grandparents). When it comes to people outside of your child’s direct support system, if you loved the course, please feel free to pass along the discount code “FRIEND” and they will get 8% off their own purchase of MMA!
-
You’ll have lifetime access to the course. Better yet, I’ll add and update topics over time so the course will continue to evolve and grow.
-
While the course is completely self-paced, purchasing the course grants you 30 days free access to my online community, The MMA VIP Community (currently offering 30 days free!). This space is meant to cultivate a community of support, giving you access to live & recorded lessons on relevant topics, a community messaging board, facilitated group conversations, self-care activities, discount codes for future offerings from Low Tide Coaching & Consulting, and more.

This course is about learning and applying information and skills that create personal growth, both for your child and yourself. I whole-heartedly believe that life is a never-ending journey of growth and self-improvement, and that you and your child will learn and grow from the information in the course. That being said, growth is a personalized journey that never looks the same for any two people. Therefore, I do not offer refunds under any circumstances.
A life in which meltdowns don’t feel like the focal point of your day is possible. Each step of this course is designed to give you more and more tools in your toolbox to make that a reality.
Sure we want the meltdowns to feel more manageable…
But beyond that, we want a relationship with our kid in which we aren’t always mad at eachother. One in which we are connected and loving and supporting of each other. So why not try something different? At the end of this course, you’ll have the tools to keep your cool more, and therefore, get to more frequently be the parent you want to (and know you can?) be, even when things get hard.
